SIB is a legal entity with its seat in Sofia, registered under ZYULNC span> in the company department of the Sofia City Court on company case No. 684 of 1990 as a non-profit association for public benefit. The Union established itself as a corrective and partner of the state and municipal governing bodies. SIB has 339 organizations, societies and interest clubs in 172 municipalities in the country, with more than 30,000 individual members with various types of diseases. p>

< span style="font-weight: bolder;">SIB is a member of:
- National Council for People with Disabilities under the Council of Ministers;
- National Council of People with Disabilities in Bulgaria (NSHUB);
- Since 2001 SIB is a member of the European Disability Forum (EDF), officially recognized by the European Commission as a corrective and partner in the field for people with disabilities and receives a direct subsidy from the European Union budget.

EDUCATION AND EDUCATION - alone or jointly with organizations licensed for qualification and retraining .

TRANSPORT BARRIERS - jointly with the Ministry of Transport,
Ministry of Labor and social policy and municipalities in Bulgaria.

ARCHITECTURAL BARRIERS - together with non-governmental organizations, state and private companies, Ministry of regional development and public works and municipalities in Bulgaria.

SOCIAL CONTACTS - independently and jointly with non-governmental organizations and municipalities in Bulgaria.

INTEGRATIONthrough art, culture, sports and tourism - independently and together with Bulgarian and foreign non-governmental organizations.

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES PERFORMED BY SIB:
Supporting and charitable; Services provided by self-help groups; Administrative-legal; Labor law; Ensuring employment; Information and consulting services; Services and activities related to the work on the implementation of the main programs; Services and activities related to local and regional programs. The emphasis in the work of SIB is cooperation with local self-government bodies in the fields of education and qualification, accessibility, employment, living standards and social protection - for the purpose of SIB works with more than 3,700 volunteer contributors.

PUBLISHING
SIB has its own printed organ - magazine COURAGE. A newsletter with an informational and methodological focus is issued every month, which is sent to all organizations, societies, interest clubs and to all district (regional) organizations. In SIB, organizations of and for people with disabilities are members as collective and associate members.
