2022 - Rise

2012 - Accessibility for all (a4all)
In the context of the Program for European Territorial Cooperation Greece-Bulgaria 2007-2013, the National Confederation of People with Disabilities - Northern Greece Branch (Lead Partner) in cooperation with the National Council of People with Disabilities in Bulgaria - Haskovo Branch (Partner), implemented a project : "Accessibility for All" - AccessibilityforAll (with distinctive name A.4.All).
The aim of the project is to promote accessibility in the public sector and in particular in local and regional authorities.
Under the term "Accessibility" is understood the characteristic of an environment that allows all citizens without discrimination due to gender, age and other characteristics (physical structure, strength , perception, etc.), the safe and independent use and access to the infrastructure and the services offered (conventional and electronic).
The beneficiaries of the project are primarily the disabled and then the public and regional authorities in the cross-border area of application of the program in adopting policies to promote accessibility and improve the lives of disabled people.

Accessibility issues are becoming increasingly important for the development of society, they are key to the implementation of an effective social policy both at the municipal, national and European level.
The idea is based on the existing standards to provoke the search for individual concrete solutions at the municipal level for the construction of an effective accessible environment.

• Opening conferences - platforms for the visibility and transparency of the project, for publicity and dissemination of the project results.
• Conferences "Accessibility", "Public buildings and opportunities for association" for representatives of public authorities and people with disabilities;
• Training seminars "People with disabilities and public services" for employees of public authorities and people with disabilities;
• Developing a comparative analysis of the legal framework of the EU and in the countries, regarding the accessibility of people with disabilities;
• Conducting a joint pilot study on existing accessibility in municipalities;
• Development of an accessible internet portal;
• Development of a manual to support the local authority in its activities aimed at providing an accessible environment in the broad sense of this understanding.

Studies in the municipalities of Haskovo and Alexandroupolis show that a comprehensive concept is needed to improve the accessibility of the urban environment.
