The National Council of People with Disabilities in Bulgaria aims to protect the human, civil, social, economic and other rights of people with disabilities, to create prerequisites for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, to ensure that discriminatory legal acts are not allowed , to create conditions for equal opportunities for life, education and work and to cooperate with other representative and other non-governmental organizations with related goals and tasks on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
We fight for a life without barriers, for anti-discrimination legislation, for equality and equal opportunities and for a society for all.
VISION
We want:
A change in the perception of the concept of disability, with the emphasis being placed not on the individual, but on some negative public attitudes and the lack of resources in society.
A change in the attitudes of the disabled themselves and of the rest of society towards them.
People with disabilities must be mobilized, be active participants in social life, seek and protect their rights, overcome barriers with the help and support of organizations of and for people with disabilities.
Society must change its vision towards this group of the population to be accepted with an understanding of their problems. This process should start from early childhood and be continuous.
Creating conditions for the expression of disabled people and presentation of their personal goals and ambitions, supporting their confidence and belief in their own strengths.
Use and emphasis on individual social work and a positive approach to support their independence and skills.
Look for ways to improve accessibility.
Creation of conditions for employment, real access to jobs on the labor market, integrated education, accessible and adequate flexible social services, diverse cultural and sports events, tailored to the capabilities of people with disabilities.
Conducting information campaigns for the disabled themselves and for society as a whole.
The lack of sufficient information regarding the problems and needs of people with disabilities leads to their ignorance and rejection by society.

Our mission is to ensure the full inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
We believe that the desired changes and amendments regarding persons with disabilities must be achieved with the participation of all stakeholders without exception, requiring the inclusion of persons with disabilities in policy development, implementation and monitoring of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. disabilities.

PROMOTING THE RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Believing in solidarity and social justice, the National Council of People with Disabilities in Bulgaria was established in 2003 by organizations committed to working together to create a society that provides equal opportunities for a dignified life and free development for each of its citizens. The founders are associations that represent citizens from all over the country with different nature and degree of physical and sensory disabilities, intellectual disabilities, as well as their families and like-minded people, gathered and led by the common goal - social inclusion in society.
Created following the example and with the assistance of the European Forum of People with Disabilities and the European good practices of the countries of the European Union, the National Council of People with Disabilities in Bulgaria relies on strong and convincing support in the general fundamental process.
United by the idea of removing existing barriers and fighting all forms of discrimination against people with disabilities and creating opportunities for their full participation in public life, we are committed to working together to create such an inclusive society that provides equal opportunities for a dignified life and free development of every citizen.
The National Council of Disabled Persons has been a member of the European Disability Forum (EDF) since May 15, 2004.
